Great place to stay in a convenient location. Close to all amenities and perfect for walking the dog. the host was friendly and provided helpful local tips.
Difficult to find the house due to an overgrown garden and no clear gate at the front. the bathroom was in need of an update and had a damp and dirty smell, which affected the entire lower floor.

I recently stayed at Alum House and had a wonderful time. The cottage was really well equipped, with the kitchen area having everything I needed, despite its small size. Donna, the owner, provided a friendly welcome and gave me loads of information on local walks. The location was perfect for me, as it was easy to get into town and there were beautiful walks along the river right from the doorstep.

Had a lovely stay at Alum House and would have liked to stay longer! The house itself is unique and very comfortable and had everything we needed. The spiral staircase is quite steep so our dog was nervous at first but she managed up and down fine in the end, may not be suited to an older dog but there are stairs outside if needed. Donna was very helpful and gave us directions for a few different walks and also pubs we could take our dog to! The walk into the town is not long and can be accessed across the fields avoiding the main road.
100% Recommend this hotel.

The house was well equipped and clean, with a friendly and helpful host. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a great night's sleep after a long day. Additionally, the location of the house was lovely, offering easy access to scenic walks for both humans and dogs.
The lack of Wi-Fi was a bit inconvenient, especially for someone who travels from overseas and may need to stay connected or do work. The bathroom was also in need of some updating, although the owners have plans to address this.

The location of the hotel was excellent, allowing us to easily explore the town and walk along the footpaths and river bank. Additionally, we appreciated that the hotel was dog-friendly, making it convenient for us to bring along our furry friend during our stay. One more advantage that we enjoyed was the warm and friendly hosts, who went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and even provided us with helpful information about the area.
While our overall experience was positive, we did encounter a couple of minor issues. we regretted not checking beforehand, as there was no oven available to use for cooking.

Stayed at a lovely quirky building just outside of town. the hosts were great, showing us around and providing helpful information about the neighborhood. Appreciated the convenient parking close to the property. Added extra guests at short notice and the hosts were very accommodating. the living room sofa bed was surprisingly comfortable. Loved the Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom for playing music while showering. Donna, the owner, was welcoming and gave us tips on nearby attractions and walks. Self-catering was easy with a well-stocked house.
The best place we've been to and we'll definitely be back. Cons: Nothing I didn't like, to be fair.

The hosts were friendly and provided helpful information about the area. the parking was convenient and appreciated. the quirky design of the building added a unique touch to the experience.
The cleanliness could have been better, with evidence of hairs in the bathroom and dried-on cooking utensils. the balcony was covered in spider webs and faced a busier road than expected, leading to constant traffic noise.
